SCHEME OF ASSESSMENT
Candidates will be required to take two written papers, and answer in English. To be awarded a
final grade in the examination, candidates must take both papers.

This paper will be 1½ hours long. It will contain 5 questions of which candidates must answer
Question 1, Question 2 and two others.
1. Major themes of the Qur’an

DeleteHazrat Abubakr's battles are related to his challenges agains false prophets, who refused to pay zakat and the apostasy movement. so they r not difficult to comprehend.Hazrat Umar's battles are important in terms of expansion of muslim empire. so study them relating to expansion.

Deletethere will be no change in syllabus until 2013. A lot of queries raised to Cambridge University about the word "distinctive" since it is vague and cannot be comprehended completely. so they may alternate it but even though the requirements will remain the same. so far even there is no such news on the University website.

ReplyDeleteI know what happened to each of the three tribes in the suburb of Madinah but i don't clearly understand what each tribe did to deserve what happened to them (the Banu Qunaiqa, Banu Nazir, and Banu Quraiza). Can you over all outline their relationship and change of relationship throughout the course of events? It would be alot of help. Also in our end of year exam a question came on this and about the relationship between the christians which im guessing just includes Bahira the monk, Najashi the Christian King, and h. Khadija's couosin, but couold mre be added to that?

Sir, wasn't this question out of course? It was according to the old syllabus. The new syllabus of 2009 does not include this. Does Cambridge give extra marks to candidates who attempt questions that are out of course?
cambrigde has included this portion in biography of the holy prophet. if u see the syllabus in detail, u will find it a part of syllabus. but still i m greed with u that directly it is not part of syllabus and they shud not ask tricky questions.

This year they gave 3 questions from the biography of the holy prophet. Not even one question came from Life In Community. But its a rule of cambridge to give one or two questions from each topic. Never has this happened that the three questions come from the same topic. Q3 was about Holy Prophet's early life. Q4 was events of caves of Hira and caves of Saur and Q5 was the one I told you earlier. The paper was wrongly set then?
My teacher is going to write an application to British Council for consideration. Would that be effective?
I want to ask that ,Grammar and spelling mistake would penalize our marks???

Deletethe points u have to include are
-upright and righteous character of the chosen prohpets
-it is an unannounced experience, it is according to the will of Allah, no one on his own will can become a prophet
-nature is very strong. even the most righteous people could not withstand it so these people were chosen
the reference u can include
1-"He does not send down His angels with inspiration of His command to such of His servants as He pleases"
2-"when His lord manifested His glory on the mount he made it as dust and Musa fell down in a swoon"

Calm down and pray to Allah.try to concentrate on the required information.You need a lot of practice to attempt the past paper questions and then check them through marking scheme.Mostly questions come on different aspects like major events, expansion, services, conflicts,challenges. for detail consult to the past papers.

Walaikum salam! mrs Ali,it depends on ur child and u as parents. i wud beter sugest to go to olevels but if the student has no or least tendency towards olevels, it wud be wrong with him.

ReplyDeleteKhizar, there is no hard and fast word limit for an answer. but i always suggest my students to write according to the marks of the question. for a 4 marks question, ur answer can be from 80 to 100 words approximately. but examiner looks for quality not for quantity. this also teaches u time management

ReplyDeletefor Quranic Passages read the posting "frequently asked questions". secondly, it depends on the question. in every question you could not give reference. but if you have to 3 to 4 reference are sufficient. thirdly there is no sole best book for studying. you should use farkhanda noor for thorough study, past papers and my blog notes with marking scheme.

the length does not matter a lot in writing an answer but it should be of a sufficient length that contains all the important points and you can also manage to do it in the given time.(for 10 marks approximately 300 - 400)

1paragraph=main theme and teachings
2nd paragraph=practical implementation and importance
pattern of hadis:
a)main theme and to quote quranic verse and an example of hadith
b)practical implementation and incident and example from the life of prophet(pbuh),caliphs n companion.

In the above Scheme of Assessment it was said that there would be 5 questions.

Plz sir guide me in this case and can u tell me that is it recommended to use headings while answering questions, as i do, but ppl say its wrong. I think its effective.

Deleteyes, imamat is important. Read the whole and focuse on the first five.
Secondly don't give headings, always write in continuous writing. You can make paragraphs.

ReplyDeletei m a former o level student. i have one problem i was teaching my younger brother and i wasnt sure if writing the correct surah refrance number is necessary or not for example if i m writing the account of the experiance of 1st revelation then should i mention the surah number and verse number of the 1st revelation?

ReplyDeleteIf you are giving a reference of a famous surah/ayat, you need not give the verse no. of it bit need to be exact in quoting it. other than this try to give the surah name at least

in the eys of examinar, there is no such distinction as shia and sunni.
